Now, as I read on Inside The Kings, Drew is being talked about for addition to the Team Canada Roster in the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver. TSN was the originator of the talks with Darren Dreger saying that the rookie King was a strong candidate for inclusion:
When it comes to Canada's Olympic hockey team in 2010, Drew Doughty is less of a long shot than Steven Stamkos, simply because he had such a terrific season with the Los Angeles Kings. Doughty is certainly a strong candidate for 2010 on the Canadian blue line.Of course, this is only one reporters thought and who knows what his sources are but it's fun to think about. I'm not sure how much of a reality it'll turn to be. Canada has a boat load of great defense (and forwards and goalies) to choose from. Drew knows how tough it'll be to make this team as I'm sure everyone does. He comments on it here in an interview with Rich from Inside the Kings:
Hammond: Have you heard the talk about your possible candidacy for the Olympic team?Regardless, it must be exciting for him. He's had an incredible year and it seem to not stop for him. I hope he carries all this positive energy into next season and help my beloved Kings at least make it into the playoffs or better yet, help bring Canada Gold!
DOUGHTY: ``I've heard a few things. It's going to be one of the hardest teams to make. Canada is going to be one of the better teams at the Olympics, with so many great players, unbelievable players. Even to be mentioned, or to be thought about for a tryout or something like that, is pretty overwhelming.''
