I know my blog has been inundated with Los Angeles Kings talk as of late, but the season is fresh and it's to be expected with my obsessive tendencies. It doesn't hurt that the Kings are now on a 2 game with streak though, with their 6-3 toppling of the Minnisota Wild on Thursday night. It's no wonder that all I want to talk about right now is hockey.
The game on Thursday was another great one to watch with the Kings playing a hard game and being rewarded very frequently for their effort. I'm not sure the Wild knew what was coming when they were shocked into a 2 goal deficit within 2 minutes. Minnesota did battle back in the end but couldn't stop LA's top line who combined for 9 points in this game alone. NINE points. Wow.
The Kings look much different this year and seem to have this complete reversal of style. So far this season, they are scoring like maniacs when last year they couldn't buy a goal. On the other hand, last year they had one of the best defensive cores in the game allowing very few shots or goals, but this season has seen plenty of both. It's very strange, but I can't help but feel this excitement. I know that when they successfully blend the game of old with the game of new, they become a very scary team.
With that I gotta talk about Teddy Purcell. When there's there's news about this Newfoundland born NHLer, I'm gonna share it especially seeing he could become a key player in the organization. Anyway, he scored another goal last night with a nice shot after a beautiful cross ice pass from Stoll. That gives Ted 2 goals so far this season. He would probably have 3 if he had of had a feed of Mom's home cooked Jiggs Dinner before game one. I know that's a strange statement to stay, but go check out Rich Hammonds blog where he talks about Teddy's mom's visit to Los Angeles and you'll understand.
The Kings play thier first road game of the season tonight against the St. Louis Blues. I'm hoping that a couple of streaks continue in this game; Teddy with goals and Kings with wins. 12 hours to game time and counting........
